HustlerWorld Movie Club: The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

Troy Duffy’s 1999 cult classic The Boondock Saints had a long road to success before becoming a staple in every college student’s DVD collection in the early 2000’s. Like a Tarantino film on crack, the violence is so overly choreographed and saturated with self-righteousness that it feels downright... READ MORE

"There's nothing like a blockbuster movie to bring the wackos out of the woodwork. Honestly, I don't know what it is about Avatar that's making people so crazy. Sure it was an entertaining movie, but it was no "Boondock Saints," yet as the "Saints" had to go through a painful..." READ MORE

MOVIE REVIEW - Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

Oh, what a rush. The Boondock Saints doesn’t really have the greatest reputation among film critics, but I suppose the liberal media would slam movies like these. Being something of the year’s anti-Men Who Stare at Goats, I was pleased with the no holds barred approach of The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. So I’m going to side-step the educated, snob-a-thon critic bullshit this time and praise it for what it is: A movie that hangs its nuts without any intention of putting them away.

After going in to hiding, the death of a priest lures the MacManus Brothers back to New York for more “gratuitous violence.” But it turns out to be the genesis of a much larger problem that goes back before their conception. Thus, Daddy MacManus steps in to confront... READ MORE

Fan-friendly “Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day” serves as a terrific follow-up to its shoot-em-up predecessor...

It’s been a decade since “The Boondock Saints” was released, and over the past ten years, the film has grown from its humble origins as just a little-known, independent action flick to one of the most widely appealing, watch-it-over-and-over-again cult classics of our time. Despite not receiving a legitimate theatrical release, it became an underground hit on VHS and DVD. It’s recognized by cinephiles as one of this generation’s coolest movies, and personally, it’s one of my top 10 favorite films. This status has been attained predominantly through word-of-mouth hype among fans to their friends, whom after being converted spread the message of the Saints to even more. So with such an enormous and devoted fanbase, it’s about time a sequel was made.

To all the devout followers out there, I’m glad to say that our prayers have been answered. Not only is “The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day” worth watching, it’s completely satisfying and surprisingly just as fun as the first, even improving upon... READ MORE

The sequel to the cult indie film, which remains one of the top-selling DVDs, catches up with the McManus brothers as they return to Boston after being framed for the murder of a priest. Out of the 'Boondocks'
Apparition sequel 'All Saints Day' takes $11 milllion

As most smaller titles struggle at the specialty box office, Apparition's crime thriller "The Boondocks Saints II: All Saints Day" has been recouping box office blessings since unspooling in late October.

Through Sunday, the pic's domestic cume was $10.8 million, one of the best showings for a 2009 film opening in limited release and Apparition's top-grossing title to date.

All Saints Day" is Troy Duffy's follow-up to his 1999 cult pic "Boondock Saints," which received only a tiny theatrical release before turning into a surprise hit on DVD, generating sales north of ... READ MORE
